About Massage |
Swedish MassageSwedish Massage is the most common form of massage used in the west. Swedish Massage uses a system of long gliding (effleurage) strokes, kneading (petrissage) strokes, friction, vibration and percussion techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles. The strokes generally follow the direction of blood flow to the heart to increase circulation in both the cardiac and lymphatic systems. Active and passive stretching movements are incorporated to help increase the range of motion in joints. The focus of Swedish massage is to reduce stress, achieve general relaxation, improve circulation, create greater range of motion and relieve muscle tension. |
